History
Bike!Bike!Southeast! is a regional conference inspired by the international conference Bike!Bike! The conference seeks to empower individuals and organizations by sharing ideas, critiquing successes and failures, and establishing an on-going community network of support between non-profit bike organizations. This year’s conference in Charleston, SC is hosted by the Holy City Bike Co-op and will be the 3rd annual southeastern regional. Previous conferences were hosted by Sopo Bicycle Co-op in Atlanta and FreeWheel Bike Collective in Louisville.
Workshops
The conference is unique in that its workshops are proposed and facilitated by attendees. Topics generally fall in two broad categories–developing technical bike maintenance skills and collectively managing an organization. Previous topics have included creating safe respectful spaces, successful and unsuccessful fund raising, organizing a race, basic and advanced bicycle maintenance, creating partnerships, wheel building, welding tall bikes, and applying for grants.
Cost
A contribution of $20 to $30 per person is requested for the weekend of workshops and fun, although no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
